SECOND EDITION OF KALEIDO’S “MORE FOR THE SCHOOLYARD” CONTEST
École Frédéric-Girard, Dominique-Savio building wins grand prize of $25,000 to improve its outdoor playground
Quebec City, June 9, 2025 — Kaleido, a pioneer and specialist in education savings since 1964, is pleased to announce the winner of the second edition of its “More for the Schoolyard” contest. The grand prize, $25,000 to revitalize the outdoor playground of a school or daycare centre, is awarded to École Frédéric-Girard, Dominique-Savio building, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
Launched last January, the contest once again generated a real buzz among parents, schools and daycare centres across Quebec. Nearly 15,000 people got involved.
The official announcement and presentation of the prize took place on June 9 at École Frédéric-Girard, Dominique-Savio building, in the presence of Kaleido management and the school’s administration, staff, parents and enthusiastic youngsters.
“A safe, stimulating outdoor space designed with children in mind can truly enrich their daily lives,” says Julie Cyr, Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience at Kaleido. “For over 60 years, our mission has gone far beyond education savings: We are committed to helping children develop as whole people, physically, mentally and emotionally. Active play and contact with nature are essential to this balance. After the enthusiastic response to the second edition of this contest, we are very proud to be able to offer this school an environment conducive to exploration, creativity and child development.”
Julie Piché, director of École Frédéric-Girard, Dominique-Savio building, thanked Kaleido for this generous donation: “This gift is much more than financial support, it’s an investment in our students’ well-being and development. With these funds, we’ll be able to dream bigger, create a space that reflects our children and offer them a good place to learn, play and grow.”
